I received an e-mail from Google today saying they are cancelling my account (and apparently all accounts) within 30 days if I don't click on a certain link, because of virus problems. I am suspicious of this e-mail because it has lots of hyperlinks in it, which I won't click on until I find out if it's legitimate.
Has anyone else received this e-mail?

There´s several possibilities:
1) You might install a spyware on you computer
2) You´re directed towards a "phishing" site, where a forged copy of "Google" will try to lure you to give up your personal information
3) It´s just spam, like the mails that used to go around several years ago about the MSN/Hotmail accounts.

Not only don't open any links.
You may also want to report the abuse to Google through their Help Center. This will help to reduce danger to other potencial "victims".

with its daily increase of capacity, it is impossible for google to start deleting account. just mark the email and report it as spam.
anyway, i think my gmail spam filter is better than my yahoomail. i suggest you to surf more securely. changing your browser from ie, to opera or firefox, should be the first step.

Thanks...I'm already using Firefox. I'll report it as spam, which is what I suspected.

Amy,
I'm a subscribed Google advertiser and have a Google API (Search Engine Service KEY), but have never seen or had such an email.
Without actually seeing the email it's impossible to determine if it IS junk. Seems as though it is though!

I have a gmail account and I have never received such a notification. Why should Google cancel all accounts when gmail is one of their major services?
Report the scam to their Customer Service, Amy, they have a pretty good follow up of the whole scam thing.

If it really were from Google, (and you're right, that email address rules out this possibility) then there would be some mention of your name and/or username. It is evident (though I don't understand Portuguese) that this is not sent personally to you, i.e. it's spam.
