It's definitely worth it. I've been a registered user at ProZ.com since 2002, but only started getting jobs through the site after becoming a member. The membership fee paid back after the first order.

When I started freelancing almost ten years ago, I used a variety of methods to reach out to potential clients. I placed an ad in the local yellow pages (no lead whatsoever), I sent out hundreds of emails to translation agencies (this landed me a couple of jobs), but by far the most efficient way of promotion was using the features that are available on ProZ.com.

In less than a month, I have had more jobs than ever and I have already earned back the membership cost. If you are a quick learner, you will find more work than you can handle in a relatively short time!

Most of my new clients now come from ProZ.com, and I have to say that fine-tuning my profile has generated some pretty good "matches" (clients that are willing to pay my rates for specific subject areas). I think ProZ.com is a great source of new clients and it is also hugely helpful in avoiding bad payers.

ProZ.com is the platform per excellence to get more work and where you can find the answer to all your translation related questions. What’s more, ProZ.com offers the professional translator various courses and almost all translation software at serious discounts. Every activity that ProZ.com undertakes is perfectly organized and a 100% reliable. Paying for an annual membership is really worth the money.

Being for over 10 years a ProZ.com member, now I cannot imagine a day without visiting the site. It became a part of my daily activities. It was one of the most valuable investments I made during my presence in the translation industry.

I'm still in shock that we got the (popular children's character) contract -- it involves work that will go more than a year. And where did the editor-in-chief at their corporate offices in NYC, find me? At my profile on ProZ.com. I tell you, I've never gotten so much out of so little investment.

I've been a member since 2005, Plus member since it started. As it's my only marketing channel I'm quite positive about it. I attended a ProZ.com conference in Eiffel Tower in 2010 and met Henry and other ProZ.com people there. I'll use ProZ.com services for as long as I translate. For me, the most useful function is the Blue Board. All of my clients have come via ProZ.com, both agencies and direct clients, even if not directly via ProZ.com but as recommended by my clients.

I think the invoicing tool is about as perfect as it can be. Great job!

This past year has been great. I woke up one morning deciding to go back to translating full time but I was not 100% sure that my decision was the right one. I left my "safe" English teaching job and recontacted my old clients. It didn't take long and I was soon back on track. Thanks to ProZ I have made contacts with new agencies around the world. I have met colleagues worldwide and found new friends... Words are my passion and this is the ideal job for me with growing children who love to see me around. My small office at home is not a lonely place at all and may I say I have never been happier. Thanks

This is simply the best, most comprehensive support network and best moderated web site I could wish for as a translator.

When I renew, I will probably do so for another ten-year period. Let me take this opportunity to recommend ten-year membership to everybody who reads these messages. You do not have to worry about renewing each and every year. It is the best investment you can make. Highly recommended!

1. The BlueBoard - where avoiding one bad payer will cover your subscription
2. The Translators' Directory - where clients go looking for translators.

Avant tout, ProZ.com représente pour moi une plate-forme d’échanges internationale permettant de côtoyer d’autres traducteurs via les forums et les formations. J’apprécie également la possibilité de pouvoir obtenir des informations sur les agences de traduction et les donneurs d’ordre en général grâce au Blue Board (certes non exhaustif, mais ô combien utile !), et de l’aide en cas de besoin avec les KudoZ. De plus, grâce à ProZ.com, j’ai trouvé un client avec lequel je travaille régulièrement : espérons que cela ne soit que le début d’une longue série!

I've met several good translators here and get plenty of interesting work on a regular basis directly through my profile. That alone is worth the price of membership.

In my case, an agency found me on ProZ.com and I got a dream job (10-year full time translation project) which changed my life completely. Later, I found a job post on ProZ which put me into $10K book translation project. Just 2 big ones in years but these were real jewels.
