What do you think?

My main client now I charge USD 0.08/word, and I always think of that as a good deal I give them because I used to work there in person and I really value the work they do. Am I totally off-base??
I'd prefer USD 0.12 too, but I think it all depends on your own circumstances - can you afford the things you need? As said a couple of times on here, my usual rate is EUR 0.08, and I have a couple of agencies from the US that pay USD 0.10. I'm also working on a few books at the moment, and the rate of pay is unfortunately lower, but the work is interesting and I like the idea of having my name appear in print. I'll do a few and see how I feel at the end of it.
All of this said - I am hoping that my other business takes over translation in the future (art/jewellery/teaching - say 5-10 years). I've always been able to keep my head well above water and I hope this continues, but as you hear so much about MT/AI on here, I'd consider doing something completely different if needed.
