Anyway, why would I?
Even when the phone rings, I try to round off the sentence and press CTRL + S to save my work before I leave it.
My work is important, so if people call or ring the doorbell unanounced, they must wait until I have time to answer them!
Only if something totally unexpected happened would I drop everything mid-sentence. My husband cut his finger on broken glass the other day, and I came running as soon as he called, but he soon returned to normal... See more Anyway, why would I?

Only if something totally unexpected happened would I drop everything mid-sentence. My husband cut his finger on broken glass the other day, and I came running as soon as he called, but he soon returned to normal, telling me not to make such a fuss! I was in the kitchen at the time, not at my desk. When I am working, I usually let him sort out his own problems until he asks for help, and he prefers it that way. ▲ Collapse | | | | | Step away mid-paragraph? | Jun 24 |
I can't unless there’s a disaster! I’ve been living on my own for many years. One of my daughters has a key to my apartment and comes to visit me almost every day, but she knows that if I’m glued to the computer, it’s best to wait until I’ve finished what I’m doing. I rarely answer the landline because 99.9 per cent of the time it’s unsolicited advertising. I have physiotherapy sessions at home (knee operation) three times a week and organise my work around that. That's all! | | | | Luca Adie Nemačka Local time: 01:12 nemački na engleski + ...
I would just step away if needed, but the chance of it happening is low - I decide when I get up or not, now mostly for chilled water... | | |

I prefer being anywhere else but at my desk. | | | | | When Flow Takes Over | Jun 25 |
I voted "It depends." If I'm already in a flow state, I'd rather finish the current thought before taking a break because interruptions can make it difficult to regain the same level of focus. Otherwise, I have no problem stepping away from my desk.
Once I'm in a flow state, I often lose track of time because I'm completely immersed in the work. Breaking that momentum too early can make it surprisingly difficult to pick up exactly where I left off. | | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: How hard is it to step away from your desk mid-paragraph? | Trados Studio 2022 Freelance | The leading translation software used by over 270,000 translators.
