Instead of displaying my entire string normally the TT shows one char at a time with tiny arrows to make it scroll (char by char!) up or down. The rest of the text window remains blank and unused. I got rid of that once by dismissing and recalling the TT, but that does not look like it works now. Any idea?
Judging from the problems on here with a limited # of users, after all, I can hardly believe how catalyst is the #1 localization package. It's buggy as hell!!!

Thanks for your query.
Have you tried to restore the default Toolbar Window Positions under Tools > Options > User profile?
What operation system do you have and what version of Catalyst?
You could also try to delete your registry settings.
For XP:
Click on Start and then Run..
In in the Run window, type regedit and click OK.

Open Catalyst.

In the search box, type regedit and then press Enter.
Navigate on the left through the registry key branches to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software >Alchemy > Alchemy Catalyst X.X (depending on your version of Catalyst)
Right click on the Alchemy Catalyst X.X folder and choose delete.
Open Catalyst.
Another option would be to check if you can drag the Translator Toolbar to make it bigger.

TY Jette, it still opens with the wrong display but resets it as soon as i change the translation bar width, so no big deal
