Hyperbaric Oxygen for Anorexia Nervosa

Abstract
Hyperbaric oxygenwas given to a patient with anorexia
nervosa who had developed postoperative ileus, resulting
in not only improvement in ileus, hut also enhancement of
intestinal movement, inducing the feeling of hunger, and
thereby increasing food ingestion. Hyperbaric oxygen may
be effective as an initial treatment for anorectic patients
showing severe bloating and resistance to food ingestion.

Abstrakt Hiperbarični kiseonik je dat pacijentkinji sa anoreksijom kod koje se razvio postoperativni ileus, što je dovelo, ne samo do poboljšanja ileusa, već i do pojačavanja rada creva, kojim je izazvan osećaj gladi, a samim tim i do povećanja unosa hrane. Hiperbarični kiseonik može biti efikasan kao početni tretman za anoreksične pacijente kod kojih se javlja jako nadimanje i otpor ka unošenju hrane. (Interna medicina 40: 635—637, 2001)
