When I opened Word this morning I was asked if I wanted to save a recovered version of Trados7.dot which was last saved by autorecover yesterday afternoon at around 4pm.

I closed Word as usual with no problems yesterday at around 4.30pm with no crashes or error messages. This has never happened before. As far as I can tell, Trados is still working normally (although I haven't started working in earnest yet so who knows what might happen).

Has anyone come across this before? Should I save the autorecovered version?

I'm using Trados 7.0 and Word 2002 on a Windows XP OS.

Same problem Oct 3, 2006

I also faced this. After a couple of such reminders I opted to save the recovered version, so Word did but I see now no difference (only no more nagging).

Same problem here Oct 3, 2006

I don t know how to solve it, so i have to call the guy who repairs my pc.

Any idea?

Whenever this problem turns up, my "word" goes crazy, and files would not open from outlook.

I had office 2003 and reinstalled 2000.

Well, I haven't saved the autorecovered file but I've kept it open in Word and continued working as normal. I've managed to translate documents and clean up as normal today. But I'm reluctant to close Microsoft word without either saving or discarding the autorecovered version because it might cause havoc when I try to reopen Word and translate again.

But I can't leave Word open forever!

Save it in a different folder Oct 3, 2006

And remember where you put it! You can always move it later if/when you need it.

This is my standard solution whenever I have overlapping files.
