how do you copy the selected translation result into the target segment ? In this case, the translation result will replace the current contents of the target segment

I assume you are asking how to insert a translation result without overwriting the segment. If you look in Options → Miscellaneous → Lookup results, there is an option labelled "Inserting a TM or corpus match overwrites target segment", which is selected by default. If you uncheck this, you can insert a translation result without deleting the current text in the segment. Hope that helps!

Make sure the cursor is in the target segment and the desired translation result is selected, then press CTRL+Space. The present content of the target segment will be replaced.
