Unfortunately, you forgot to mention a couple important things:
- if the contact was via ProZ.com or through some other site or directly by your email;
- if the contact was via ProZ.com, please provide the IP number from the email (or the profile number if the user was logged in)

Without this information this is just a description of the issue which would alert other users but would not help to block the scammer.

Thank you Maria Teresa. So this is the same old scam behind which there is a small army of Nigerian scammers calling themselves Joel William, Lily Anthony, Bella smith, victorparker, Williams Thomas, Jeff Brown etc etc etc

I don't think it was via Proz, it could have been in response to some emails I recently sent via Translators Cafe, but I can't be sure. I just had an "interview" with "Dr. Kelvin Justus", he disappeared after a few uncomfortable questions. Red flags were - "Hi there" letter without my name, my email being in the hidden copies field; the interview is by text only; no specific answers to my questions. Funny, offering $125 per page he was asking what language I translate into.

Yes, it is most likely a scam.

Why?

Have a look at the profile picture of that person in Skype. In the bottom right corner, you can see @anna.aresi.

Anna Aresi is apparently a translator based in the US.

There is a Instagram link on her website. If you follow that link, you can see the exact same picture there.

And no, I have never worked for Interpol...
