This is an indication that you could charge higher rates. Why not consider raising them?

Increase your rates Jul 25, 2023

Hi Maria,
Thanks for your reply.
I just have too much work.

Whenever that's happened to me, I tell clients that I've increased my rate by €0.01 per word. The majority write back and say they're very sorry to lose me but they can't afford my new rates, and others tell me that they'll send me work whenever they have the chance.

I let each client know when I deliver a finished translation.

No need for any notice Jul 27, 2023

Always bear in mind that we are (forced to be) independent contractors.
Notice periods are for employees.
Contractors are NOT employees.

There's no need to give any notice at all unless you've signed a long-term collaboration agreement specifying a notice period.

Sadly, the agencies' practice to drop their good vendors and get lost without any notices, or openly declare that they found someone cheaper is very common and many of them do not give a fly about hurting your feelings or returning any favors.

So very true (sadly)!
