The future will tell... Dec 18, 2006

The first 6 months my objective is simply earn enough to pay the bills and save some extra.
Focus on all the small details of the languages I know and try I to find some time to study a language I can read and understand, but can not speak.
An Italian grammar has lingered on the bookshelf for years. It is a bit frustrating to be able to read and understand "Il Corriere della Sera", but not be able to speak the language.
Focus also on specialised software.

Take a summer break (too hot in summer).
July 2007 is going to be a hot summer again.
Work 7/7 during the second half of the year.

Worse for sole traders in Sweden Dec 18, 2006

I guess my turnover will not be worse, but since the weird right wing government of Sweden has decided to abolish some tax benefits for small sole traders, it'll be worse in terms of money per working hour anyway.

You'd never expect that from a right wing government, would you?

Only 2.6 hit worse! Dec 18, 2006

What reasons do these minority of colleagues have to be pessimistic? Can ProZ do something for them?
Is it for personal reasons or external reasons?

Anyway, I see that the majority of our group is optimistic. There are quite a few superticious (don't know crossing their fingers!) or they're just too cautious to advance any guess.

Merry Christmass to all colleagues and may next year be prosperous for all of us!

Live long and prosper! :) Dec 18, 2006

I voted for the optimistic option, as I am a natural born optimist myself. This year turned out to be very successful, also thanks to Proz! Next year I plan to expand my business and join two associations, so I am hoping for the best - also regarding networking!

Cheers
Ania

According to www.astrology.com, this is what 2007 has in store for me and all other Geminis (just checked it now by the way!)

"In 2007, you will have great opportunities to reinvent yourself in your career. (...) Resources are available to you and your sense of value is strong. (...) you'll find that you are satisfied monetarily in your business dealings.

You are shrewd in business and can succeed in almost any profession you choose."

Sounds GREAT!

Will be better Dec 19, 2006

Because everything will be better.

Because there's no other way to end an ending year and start a new one.

AB-SO-LU-TE-LY!! You reminded me of the important part. Every December we end up working too much and often miss the point: the beginning of a new year is always the starting line for an opportunity to do things better!

Better yet so different Dec 19, 2006

I just moved to Spain a couple of months ago and I will be starting my own company in 2007. It will be quite a career change but I still hope to find time to continue translating. My main focus will be on selling quality houses and cottages made of wood. By dealing directly with suppliers (lumber yards and construction companies overseas) I will be able to offer better, more affordable prices. The good news is that a fortune teller in Madrid already told me that I am and will be very lucky . Best wishes for a prosperous New Year, everyone.
