Seems there are just too many unknown factors... some questions then.
1) would you even be interested in switching from freelancing to an in-house position?
2) if yes, find out what exactly would you be doing. What would your responsibilities be? Some options:
* Project management, and nothing but project management
* Sales as well, quoting for jobs, trying to win new clients
* Meeting clients, playing the role of an account manager

* Meeting clients, playing the role of an account manager
* Proofreading or translating small jobs yourself
* Calling after non-paying clients (yep, agencies get those too!)
* Finding translators, negotiating rates as a vendor manager
* Coordinating in-house staff as well as freelancers
Many companies distinguish between sales management, vendor management, project management, technical stuff, linguistic stuff... in others, it's all part of the mix and it all comes together under the header "project manager". But a "project management, and nothing but project management" position is quite different from the mixed job description.
So, first find out what this specific position would be like, and whether that sounds interesting to you. If the answer's yes, then start thinking about the payment. For now, there's just too many uncertainties to figure out what's reasonable.

Yo trabajé un tiempo como PM en una agencia en Capital, y la verdad el trabajo era muy difícil y el sueldo muy malo (más o menos lo que vos mencionás, unos USD 1000, a veces con las comisiones se hacía un poco más).
El problema es que las agencias te dicen que es un trabajo de 8-9 horas diarias y bien pago porque nadie paga eso en Argentina, pero no es verdad eso. El problema es que las agencias te dicen que es un trabajo de 8-9 horas diarias y bien pago porque nadie paga eso en Argentina, pero no es verdad eso. Yo trabajaba 10-12 y a veces más porque siempre surgen problemas. Por ejemplo si un traductor se atrasa con una traduccion orque se le corto la luz, entonces te tenes que quedar hasta que te lo entregue y vos cumplas con el cliente, y si eso implica irte a las 9 de la noche en vez de a las 6, lo tenes que hacer. Y si no tenes que hacer la entrega desde un cyber o tu casa.
Aparte necesitas saber de todo, todas las cat tools como trados, wordfast, sdlx y otras mas raras, si algo sale mal te tenes que arreglar solo, si el cliente se queja te descuentan de tu sueldo, o si el cliente so borra y nunca paga nunca te pagan a vos, etc....
Algunos de mis compañeros cobraban buenos sueldos, pero me decian que llegaban a algo bueno matándose durante todo el mes, así que me fui...prefiero estudiar tranquila y despues ser freelance mil veces!...hasta creo que si me va mal como freelance prefiero trabajar en un farmacity ahahah...salu2! ▲ Collapse
