I recently updated my PC and I'm now using OpenOffice instead of Microsoft Word.
I tried to open an external review file generated with SDL Studio, but I get a message of error: General Error I/O.
So I was wondering if it is possible to open these files with OpenOffice; I also tried to change the file extension to .odt, but it still doesn't work.
Anybody has any suggestions?
Thank you,
Valentina

The external review file is a DOCX file, so you should be able to open it in OpenOffice. However, you (or your client) won't be able to update from external review if you've used OpenOffice to edit the file. Trados is very particular about that -- updating from external review only works if you've edited the file in specific versions of Microsoft Office (that's right, not even all versions of Microsoft Office are safe!).
A "General Error I/O" type of error is sometimes caused by the program not being able to open the file in its current location. Try moving the DOCX file to some other location and opening it from there.
