In the recent past I have found that to avoid those backslash characters (before quote and apostrophe) I had to type the html entity code (e.g. for the quote: the ampersand, the four letters quot, and a semi-colon) and then submit the post without first previewing. Today, while I am composing this post, that seems not to be the case. In the following line, the word quoted should be surrounded by quotes and no backslashes and I shall type it directly, not using the html entity code. "quoted" In the following line, I shall type the entity code instead of the quote characters. "quoted"
Note that in the above line, when I previewed it and returned to editing the post, my html entity codes had been replaced by the actual quote character, so now I've put the entity codes there again and I'm going to post without previewing...

This problem has been solved some time ago

Dear Oliver,
Thanks for your concern, and for taking the time to test this issue.
The problem with backslashes appearing in forum posts when quote marks were included has been identified and solved some time ago already. You can see that backslashes are not shown along with the quote marks on the recent post you quoted, I actually did get assistance from Trados Help.

The other post you quote, Words that exist in only one language, was posted on 2001, before the problem was solved. The backslashes are still shown because that is how the posts were stored in the database.
I hope this explains. Please let me know if you have any doubts.
