"Creative Translation" appears not to be translation at all. Usual post-modernist anything goes mumbo-jumbo.

TLDR, but you're probably right. I managed to skim the first few paragraphs before my eyes started to glaze over. It's like the old adage "those who can, do, and those who can't, pontificate about doing"...icon_smile.gif

In the real world Nov 3, 2020

These people have no idea about the translation world. They're talking about some kind of creative artistic endeavour. In the real world, translations serve a purpose, and are commissioned by a client who has a purpose and a need. A "rebellious" translator could cost a client a potential job, or could risk someone's life. And so on.

I was interested in the workshops, so I started reading. I wish I hadn't. The workshops are dealt with only in the final 1/5th of the article. The first 4/5th of the article is about "deconstructing harmful and blah-blah-blah".

If anyone told me Nov 13, 2020

that one day I would be quoting Margaret Thacher's word, I would have dismissed it as preposterous. Still ...

I think that this mumbo-jumbo shouldn't be given the oxygen of publicity - should simply be ignored.
