Discussion

Nicole Trebbin (asker) Jun 24, 2009:
Danke!
hazmatgerman (X) Jun 24, 2009:
Richard Stephen Jun 23, 2009:
Altough definitive information would be preferable, a machine that 'sorts' by 'testing and measuring' and then does one of two things with the parts: either 'select' or 'Ausschleußen', does sound very much like it is 'accepting' and 'rejecting' parts through the corresponding stations.
Steffen Walter Jun 23, 2009:
Unzureichender Kontext Was wird denn hier selektiert und ausgeschleust? Und an welcher Stelle im Prozess befindet sich diese Station? Ein vollständiges Fließschema o. ä. wäre hier hilfreich.

reject station

I found 'extraction point' in Leo, and 'discharge' for 'Ausschleußen'; but from the scant context you give, I assume the machine is testing a product and then 'selecting' the good ones and 'rejecting' the bad - discharge wouldn't really fit here.
Peer comment(s):

agree Colin Rowe : Best guess in absence of context

agree John Fenz : See reference regarding "Ausschleusstrecke" below

agree Frosty : Or maybe "acceptance or chuck-out point" ;-). Off topic - in the avatar, is that you blowing into the long brass tube? If so, I`ll be making contact with you, if you are into Big-Bands!

Thanx for the 'agree' - I play tb in two big bands in Trier and vicinity

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I contacted the customer and the "Aussschleusstation" is indeed just for the non-okay parts, so this answer seems the most appropriate one! Thank you!"

discharge station / ejector station / diverter station

These stations arer used e.g. to remove/discharge defective items from a conveyor belt, to divert specific items to a specific location, etc.

It all depends on the context.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Richard Stephen : That's essentially what I said above, but 'discharge' doesn't indicate that they are defective. / You're right the entry doesn't say it explicitly, but see my comment above.

When I started researching, your entry hadn't been posted yet ;-) Regarding defective items: My posting says *e.g.*, and the German text gives no information about the nature of the removed/diverted/discharged/rejected parts.

Ausschleusstrecke

Langenscheidt Dictionary of Technology and Applied Sciences
has the following entry:

Ausschleusstrecke f <logist> (HRL) reject spur; reject line

Nothing for the queried term: "Ausschleusstation", but obviously a Ausschleusstation on a Ausschleusstrecke (reject line) should be called a "reject station"
Peer comments on this reference comment:

neutral Bernd Runge : But, same dictionary, "Ausschleussystem n (HRL) output system". Doesn't really sound like rejection, does it?

Good point: Steffen's word of caution (in the discussion section) should be observed.
