This website acts as a meeting place for truckers (transporters, 'transportistas') and the people who possibly want to hire these truckers to carry cargo somewhere.
In the Spanish text they use the word 'cargador' for the person who might want to hire a trucker. But i'm finding this difficult to translate into a short name or term in English. This person is really commissioning or hiring services, but neither 'commissioner' nor 'hirer' seem right!
Coming from the Spanish 'encargado' is also rather fruitless as the best would be something along the lines of 'person responsible for organizing transportation'. Not exactly snappy!
The best I can come up with is 'contractor', but I think this is normally used to refer to the person who will DO the work, not to the person who ARRANGES for it to be done. Am I wrong? What do you think? Any other ideas much appreciated.

Comment: "Ufff, this has been a difficult little word to pin down. In the end I've gone for consignor over shipper, as part of the text is very formal. It appears that a haulier is just another word for a haulage contractor, transporter, carrier or trucker! So no good in the end. Anyway, many thanks to everyone, much appreciated."

Hmmmm thinking aloud, having read Owen's note:
The truckers and the 'cargadores' are all clients of the web-site, but the 'cargadores' are clients of the truckers, not the other way round.
To me it sounds a bit unecessary, but if it helps avoid ambiguity, how about 'trucker's clients'?

haulier
I have always understood the haulier to be the company that trades between clients and freelance driver/owners. Although many hauliers will own some of their own trucks.
