: In context it must be this. It's specifically an Asturian usage ("vaqueiros de alzada"), but Caro Baroja seems to be drawing an analogy between Navarrese "altzubide" etc. and Asturian "alzada".

: But I would correct it to "high pasturing" which can refer to both the activity and the place. "High pasturing" is commonly applied to pastoralism.

alzada has different meanings (related with cattle raising) in Asturias, but outside Asturias, as far as I know, alzada is both an action (realizar la alzada) and the result of the action:
