Paola - my pleasure :-) Thx 4 the points; BTW; check your Proz mail inbox :-) Plus, I'd suggest modification of your glossary entry into "city landmark", dropping the "s", as the commenting Colleagues have rightly pointed out. The version without the Saxon genitive prevails stylistically.

It's a matter of choice, naturally. "Postcard" sounds a bit too ambiguous, IMVHO. Though u're entirely right - stylistically, it just sounds/reads better to me, despite my not being a native speaker of the language of William S. :-)

3. a building or other place that is of outstanding historical, aesthetic, or cultural importance, often declared as such and given a special status (landmark designation), ordaining its preservation, by some authorizing organization.

I'm trying to suggest a contextual, rather than a literary translation. Technically, the monument is LIKE a "visiting card"; something that, when presented to someone, will immediately identify who (or what place) it is.

Best example: Eiffel Tower in Paris. I'd call it a landmark, not a visiting card :-)
