If you look up asthma inhalers + actuation you will find lots of examples.

Question Does this refer to metered-dose inhalers or similar devices? If so, the word you're looking for is "actuation"--a single "puff", "pump", or "click" of the device, which (theoretically) should dispense a single metered dose of the loaded substance.
