The rosticciata has the sense of being over a wood fire as far as I can tell
Peer comment(s):

agree claudiocambon : You're right, Cedric. Even my uncle from Chiavari told me they were baby octopus, but he was wrong! It is indeed a musky octopus. I would still activate for roast, perhaps grilled or even fire-roasted, though. I associate BBQ with US dishes.

agree Gina Ferlisi : grilled is better too, it's more UK

roast baby octopus

Moscardini are definitely baby octopus, and a delicacy in Liguria, one I am very happy to say I have had.

Rosticciare is an older term for roasting, as per this older cookbook I found on google.

tossed (musk) octopus

was thinking spit-roasted, but in view of e.g. this scampi recipe think tossed may be better

Last but not least, the Musk Octopus (Eledone moschata) is a smaller octopus with a single row of suckers on its tentacles (the others have two) and issues forth a strong odor of musk. Tunisians capture it by hand under stones and among seaweed; they call it meska and regard it as the tastiest member of the octopus family.

It could be that they're cooked on a griddle rather than tossed/sauteed in a pan - but we don't have enough context - the sentence/whole phrase is needed really; definitely not stewed, though, as this involves liquid
