Well, I would describe the colour in the photo as maroon, though I think "σάπιο μήλο" is usually more of a dusky-pink-with-a-hint-of-mushroom sort of colour. If you're in need of further inspiration, can I suggest that you google "colour chart" for a range of (often overly poetic) descriptions of colours.

See my suggested answer. The enlarged picture is quite clear, but because of the lighting a number of different shades are present. Anyway, different people see colours in different ways.

If you could post a link that shows the colour, it might be helpful. Is it indeed a shade of red, as most answerers seem to think? There are green apples, too, and rotten apples turn brown. Could you post an RGB value?

I would call that puce. If you don't think it looks the same as the colour in the wikipedia page, there are links at the bottom of that page to colour charts showing shades of pink and red.

neutral nevipaul : I think the colour in the photo is definitely puce, but the word for me has always had negative connotations, so I'm not sure I would use it in this context.

Το σάπιο μήλο είναι ένα «λερωμένο ροζ» χρώμα.
