German term

companion

German to English Marketing Mechanics / Mech Engineering Product Brochure

Danke!

Annett

@philgoddard You are certainly right! - However, I made this mistake unconsciously.....I searched the data base for "companion" in order to see how it can be used and then clicked on "Ask a question" and so it happened! :-(
philgoddard Oct 26, 2011:
Annett You should have put Begleiterin as the question, not companion.
freekfluweel Oct 26, 2011:
Would opt for "companion" since most technicians like to be in charge...!
freekfluweel Oct 26, 2011:
aid (?), [maid (? LOL)]. "companion" AND "partner" sound good to me.

Then I would suggest either escort, attendant or associate.

If the function is more of an assisting nature:
aide, adjunct or attendant.
Note from asker:
The brochure is of a really technical nature with technicians as target readers.
Peer comment(s):

disagree philgoddard : Have you read the context? A literal translation doesn't work.

I tried to qualify it, but you're right. Should have used a lower CL. Sorry!

disagree freekfluweel : that would be a neverending journey...
