German term

Rillenbündel

German to English Social Sciences Archaeology Roman Empire swords
These are horizontal grooves around the hilt of a sword; your fingers go between them. The word is also used for vases that have a grooved decoration. "Grooved bundles" sounds beyond weird. Is there a term in English archaeology for this?

Referring to the asserted Roman origin of Nydam sword hilts:

Dafür sprechen schon die im 4. Century A.D. üblichen Handhaben mit flachen Fingermulden zwischen ++Rillenbündeln,** deren römische Vorläufer im Babaricum kaum genutzt oder nachgeahmt wurden.

Thanks in advance.

Most of the current sword information just calls them "grooves," or "grip grooves."
