Dutch to English Other Sports / Fitness / Recreation rally navigation terms
Any rally enthusiasts out there? I'm completely stumped by some terms thrown into this article for a company newsletter. Bolletje-pijltje should actually be hyphenated and, according to a scouting site I found (see explanation and drawing at http://www.scoutquest.com/nl/scout/tech/hike/route.shtml), refers to a filled-in blob (indicating where you are) with an arrow leading out of it (that's my rather pathetic description). Can anyone help?

So far I've got "plotted lines (route?), arrows, dots (?), XXXX (???), and so on".

tulip

Apparently, the "Tulip Rally" was invented in Holland in the 1950's; it is based on the so-called 'tulip chart', showing the intended direction of travel at intersections. The first link explains some of this, the second link contains the text "The major part of the surprise ride was coded with a tulip chart (in Dutch: bolletje/pijltje-kaart) starting at the dirt road nearly right in front of the restaurant."

I haven't found the other words in your list (yet).

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Yes, a bit more googling reveals that tulips or tulip diagrams are common terms in rallying. Couldn't confirm the other terms so opted for "Plotted route, arrows, dots, 'tulip' diagrams, and so on". Thanks a lot!"
