Dutch term

overwaarde

Dutch to English Other Games / Video Games / Gaming / Casino bridge
I'm translating a beginners' bridge course and have found a couple of gaps in my English bridge vocabulary. I'm particularly interested in British usage, as there are sometimes GB-US differences, I believe.

'Overwaarde': I feel there must be a more concise way of phrasing it than 'more than minimum strength', which is what I'm using at the moment. Comes up quite a few times as well so translation becomes rather repetitive.

The glossary in this job defines it as 'Meer kracht dan je in eerste instantie hebt beloofd.'

Examples and best efforts so far:

Je hebt een hartenfit en samen minstens 13+10 = 23 punten: niet genoeg voor de manche. Je springt naar 3♥ en vraagt of partner meer heeft dan een minimum. Met overwaarde maakt partner het af op de manche: 4♥.
(...You jump to 3♥ and ask whether partner has more than the minimum number of points required for an opening bid. If partner has more than minimum strength, he will bid at game level: 4♥.)

Je hebt samen minstens 23 punten, net niet genoeg voor de manche. Spring naar 2SA. Met overwaarde maakt partner er 3SA van. Anders past deze.
(With more than minimum strength, partner will make it 3NT.)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Spot on! Found this definitions, which correspond with the Dutch glossary entry: Extra values : Values (in the form of high card points, shortage or cover cards) which are in addition to the values that a player has promised so far in the bidding. Extra values: significantly more than the minimum strength or potential indicated by earlier bidding."
