Storage tanks (Chemical)
I'm looking for the specific term of a mostly-underground storage tank that is designated in Dutch only with "grondtank".
The tank is vertical, with the largest portion underground.
The tank is NOT fully underground like an underground storage silo or UST
The tank is, in context, used for the storage of chemical solvents (tanks for liquid storage)
Unfortunately, several web and context searches have note yielded any usable results. Your help is appreciated!
Note: Please US English for the translation!

This document calls them partly embedded (page 7). Much of a muchness, I would say but choose whichever sounds more American to you:

where you should click on the heading "Underground Storage Tanks" in the right hand column at the top to reveal the following definition:
•An underground storage tank is any tank wholly or partially embedded in the ground, including underground piping, used to contain POL products or hazardous substances. Criteria to control and abate pollution resulting from POLs and hazardous substances are described in various regulations.
•In order to ensure that USTs are not leaking and components of them are working as specified, monitoring system have been installed on most USTs.

The above answer assumes that, as per your question above, you need to differentiate the type of underground storage tank in this translation form underground storage tanks in general as being of the partially embedded variety.

Note from asker:
No distinction needs to be made specifically in the context - a description is provided for the term in Dutch (hence my question if there was a different term). It was my assumption that UTS would only apply to completely below-ground installations; I was mistaken there. |
