Dutch term

...worden ... Brønsted zuren BH+

Dutch to English Science Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng chemical ionization (MS)
My text is about mass spectrometry, here specifically chemical ionization. I'm not sure how to interpret the highlighted section.

Is the text incomplete so that it reads as 'Under high pressure conditions in the ion source, Brønsted acids (BH+) are formed as a result of ion-molecule reactions.'

Or do Brønsted acids 'become' BH+ - i.e. 'Under high pressure conditions in the ion source, Brønsted acids ionize to BH+ as a result of ion-molecule reactions.'

Thanks, Tineke That's what my instinct was telling me but I wanted to be sure it was yet another mistake in the source text (!)
Tineke Van Beukering Oct 3, 2011:
Source incomplete It seems that the text is indeed incomplete. It would make sense that the Dutch sentence should have been "Bij hoge druk in de ionenbron worden vervolgens door ion/molecuul reacties Brønsted zuren BH+ gevormd". The 2nd suggestion by the asker would not make sense from a chemical point of view. Therefore, the 1st translation suggested by the asker seems to be a correct translation of what the source should have said here. If you can still follow me.

As you already suggested, the sentence seems incomplete. I agree that the translation should be: 'Under high pressure conditions ....Brønsted acids (BH+) are formed as a result of ion-molecule reactions.'
Note from asker:
I'm sorry, but your answer doesn't make sense to me. In the context of the sentence, *what* form Brønsted acids BH+?
