French term

site céphalique

French to English Medical Medical (general) clinical procedure noted in a medical report
This Oncology patient is in a poor state of nutrition (and I think has bad veins) and has been been given a "site cephalique". I was wondering if this was a central line. Here is the original sentence in full: "Au vu de l'etat de denutrition du patient et du capital veineux, il a ete decide de poser un SITE CEPHALIQUE." I only found one hit on Google for this collocation and it doesn't help. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

cephalic vein catheter

or cephalic vein access

I don't usually translate to English, but I've just been translating a file on catheters to French
Note from asker:
Oui, c'est ca. Il faut ajouter le mot "catheter". Merci beaucoup. Bonne journee!

French term (edited): "site cephalique"

brain spot ?

"céphalique" refers to the head, and the most important part of the head is the brain which has vital functions.
I tried and guess what "site" meant in that context, but I'm not sure. Maybe they tried and settle something where the brain is, in order to help it carry on its most important functions, but it's just a guess.

implantable site through the cephalic vein

"Cepalic site" on its own may be sufficient within a specialty MD audience, but as a non-MD, I find this clarification helpful to unpack the term and to give "poser" in this sentence the contextual meaning of "to implant"
Example sentence:

The link is to the article: [How to install an implantable site for chemotherapy through the cephalic vein]

Peer comment(s):

neutral SJLD : could well be an implanted venous access device/port. However, "poser" is also used for the insertion of simple peripheral catheters.
