Spanish term

canaleta en espiga

Spanish to English Science Science (general)
I cannot find a translation into English for this term anywhere. Does anyone know what it might be? The text is from a report written by an engineer in Argentina after visiting a company in Los Angeles, USA. He is discussing testing and new products being tested.

Here is the context:

 Han realizado ENSAYOS de JUNTA a presión (usan un aro de goma 0 20 a 25 mm, con canaleta ancha en espiga) con resultado positivo.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

wide herringbone groove

This is a term commonly used in mechanical engineering to describe surfaces such as pulleys, etc. More simply put it is a "V" shaped groove.

This industry manufactures kraft/cardboard roll tubes.
To test the pressure joint resistance, the roll tube are run under pressure in the wide V groove of a small wheel. This is a fail/pass test.
