My Answer is based entirely upon our colleagues' input, here, as I don't find the term in any language, in my resources. But IF 'haras' means 'stud farm', then I suggest that many U.S. producers in pedigreed horses prefer to say 'breeding farm' and related terms, these days.

I looked it up in my dictionary, and saw that it is an Andean term. The translation given was "stud farm".
