Spanish term

aún sin aprovechamiento

Spanish to English Other Food & Drink Cheese consumption
Source text:

Para el año 2017, las exportaciones del producto representaron un mercado en los EEUU de US$ 7,593,000.00, Nicaragua US$114,002.00, El Salvador US$31,846,700.00, Costa Rica US$ 7,450.000 y Honduras US$ 1,4864,480.00.

El mercado potencial aún sin aprovechamiento por parte de los productores nacionales ronda los US$121,953,000.00 dólares anuales, ese mercado es al que con éste proyecto estaremos apuntando además del mercado existente.

My try:

The potencial market *not targeted yet*?

Discussion

Muriel Vasconcellos Jan 4, 2018:
My preference Your suggestion feels a little awkward. No need for 'and', by the way. It's all one concept. I would go with:

'The potential market yet to be exploited by national producers'
Lydianette Soza (asker) Jan 3, 2018:
What about:

The **potential and unexploited market** by national producers ....
Lydianette Soza (asker) Jan 3, 2018:
What about

The pontential and unexploited market by national producers is around....

not yet explored

This way it's possible to keep it simple
Example sentence:

The potential market not yet explored by the national producers is big.

Spanish term (edited): El mercado potencial aún sin aprovechamiento

The as-yet unexploited market

Along the lines that you suggest. "Potential" would be redundant here (just like "potencial" is redundant in the Spanish) and "yet to be taken advantage of" is awkward.

untapped

There’s a fairly succinct expression in English for your question, frequently used in this context - “untapped”.
Your translation could be phrased like this:
“The potential untapped market for domestic prouducers is roughly...”

untapped market
Dictionary of Marketing Terms for: untapped market
demand that has not been met by an existing product or brand, or a market that could use an existing product in an innovative way. An untapped market is often the impetus for product innovation or customization. For example, the personal hygiene market was an untapped market for the makers of baking soda until they developed a baking soda toothpaste. There was an untapped market for athletic brassieres until the first jogging bra was developed.”

untapped
ADJECTIVE
