'Los callejones se mantienen limpios y hay un mejor desarrollo de la anta, hay menos bacterias, menos plagas y mejor producción'.

This is about farming in Nicaragua. I discovered that 'anta' means 'tapir' (the animal), however, I do not think that this is appropriate here. I also found that 'anta' could mean 'leaf' in Italian, which sometimes gets into Latin American Spanish. Therefore could this mean 'the leaves are developing better' (as opposed to being affected by disease).

I considered 'anther'... which is 'antera' in Spanish (a part of the plant)--but it doesn't make sense in your context, so I tend to agree with Mercedes (especially the argument about cacophony).

There's a mistake in the spanish frase, no doubt, because "la anta" would be cacophony...

Yes, but in my humble opinion... and according to the context of the Spanish sentence, there could not be a "development of the hanta" if the subject refers to the results of cleaner conditiones. I think that the word "desarrollo" is not the most appropriate for the Spanish text. See: " Streets/Alleyways are kept cleaned and there is a better development of the hanta..." (increase/advance of the hanta!!!). That has no sense. I think that "control" fits better both for Spanish and English. The idea is to keep under control the urban rodents population by keeping the alleyways cleaned in order to prevent from plagues, bacteria, etc.

Here in Chile there is a permanent governmental campaign for instructing the population in order to prevent and control the hanta... not for developing it.

interesting idea but I don't think you could stretch the meaning of desarrollo in this context to mean control, especially as they are talking about the results of cleaner conditions.

"Hanta" What about if the right word in spanish is "hanta"? Definition: "Hantavirus (hanta) is a disease spread by rodents that is similar to the flu". If so, then it could be referring to "a best control of the hanta".
