Italian term

confezione brossura fresata

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Printing & Publishing
From an agreeement between a printing company and a client. This annexure is headed Stampi dei documenti, and includes the following:

I documenti in oggetto (campioni allegato “A”), saranno prodotti partendo da carta ……………gr. mq formato cm 15 x cm 21.
Copertina con carta………….. gr. 240 mq
**Confezione brossura fresata** con spessore minimo di 4 mm

My research has produced "binding in milled paper". Is this close? Many thanks.

before the glue is applied the spines are cut or ground/milled away allowing the glue to penetrate more deeply - hence "fresata"

(I used to work for a printing company in Italy and we did exactly this kind of work for a Swedish customer - in the printing shop they called it "fresata", on the invoice it was "perfect binding")

glued/adhesive (unsewn) paperback/softcover binding

This is actually the glued or unsewn (as opposed to stiched/sewn) binding method typically used for softcover/paperback books.
