Has anyone got an idea on how to translate "diploma finale di strumento" (found in a "bando di concorso" for musicians) - I'd translate it literally as "degree in instrument", but I'm afraid it doesn't sound that right...

This is my best guess at this point .... One can talk about non-specific instrumental performance degrees, or one can talk specifically about a Master's or Bachelor's Degree in trumpet/ clarinet/violin or any other instrument. Here, it will depend on the context of your announcement.
Example sentence:
"Graduates of the program will be prepared for entrance or transfer to a four-year Instrumental Performance degree program."
"Karlin holds a bachelor's degree in piano performance from Colorado State University and a master's degree in voice and piano from Washington State ..."
