another possibility might be that the author has in mind the Greek word chroma which means colour and thus means shower for chrome-hydro-therapy which includes a shower head adapted to issue a spray of colored water onto the body of a person. But for sports facilities it is unlikely to have installed so sophisticated a device. But - everything is possible !
