Italian to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings Theatre for Early Years

Hi all,
I need help with this Italian saying.
The text is an abstract for a conference about theatre in education.
The expression is also included in the title - here's some context:

"Dai bambini, si va a bottega" (Title)
...
"I bambini insegnano con il loro esempio, da loro, come dai vecchi maestri, si va a bottega.
Io a bottega da loro ci vado da un po’.
Mi hanno insegnato tante cose."

Un tempo con questo termine s'intendeva il lavoro di apprendistato nella bottega di un “maestro”, che poteva essere tanto un artigiano quanto un artista.
