"Te rekenen vanaf de levering van het materieel is S.A.R.L. XXXX de titularis van en de toezichthouder op het materieel. S.A.R.L. XXXX is verantwoordelijk voor alle schade veroorzaakt door het materieel of naar aanleiding van de werking ervan, zowel aan personen als aan goederen."
Would "nominal owner" be correct in this instance. "Titularis" is usually translated as "incumbent" or "office holder", which does not apply here.
Any suggestions?
TIA

nominal owner
Your own suggestion of "nominal owner" seems as good as any. I've also seen "private owner" but that's not as good as "nominal".

Comment: "Thanks,
Jarrys answer was actually correct, because I had forgotten to mention that the sentence comes from a rental contract for machines. So nominal onweship is passed to the lessee for insurance purposes. "

: as in 'holds title to the goods' 'title passes to the goods' - sounds GOOD to me :)

Comment: "Sorry Jarry, ik had vergeten te vertellen dat het een huurcontract is, dus "no transfer of title", just nominal ownership for insurance purposes.
Thanks."
