Dutch term

velsrandje

Dutch to English Tech/Engineering Engineering: Industrial oil & gas

From internet, I gather that a velsrandje is a sort of metal band that holds something else fast, but what is the English term? The technical dictionaries I have offer no help. All help appreciated!

I agree with Sindy!

Typo? According to VD a "fels" is a "fold, folded joint hem, folded seam". That might fit?

flange

Definitely a typo for 'felsrandje'. Can be translated by 'flange' as per Kluwer GPW. Probably formed in a folding process by a hydraulic press, for example.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks, Jack, it's clearly a typo, as you (and Sindy) say. I was very puzzled as to why I couldn't find it!"

flenge o-ring / plunger ring

Sorry, I'm really not sure about this, but here's my thinking; velsrandje, velsrand, felsrand, fels, flens, flange, flange ring, flange o-ring...

But I also found a reference to a 'plunger ring'.... Hope this helps.

sorry, that should have read "FLANGE O-RING"

chime

I found this on eurlex.eu
vi) one diagonally on to the top chime, with the centre of gravity directly above the point of impact
