Dutch term

technologiedrager

Dutch to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks
Term used to describe a car, truck or bike. I understand this to mean one laden with technology, but can't find a translation, other than 'technology bearer' on websites that are obviously translated. TIA

Discussion

LAB2004 (asker) Nov 27, 2006:
Na zijn carrière als technologiedrager kreeg de xxx een welverdiende plek in het museum.
Not a terribly helpful sentence. The article is about a concept vehicle that never went into production but was used for trying out all sorts of things relating to comfort, driveability, ergonomics and in particular technology.
Günther Toussaint Nov 27, 2006:
relating to a car, "fully loaded" might work...
Günther Toussaint Nov 27, 2006:
"High-end" XYZ, perhaps?
writeaway Nov 27, 2006:
Can you please post a complete sentence in Dutch?

engineering testbed

... based on the additional context

a testbed is a platform (in any sense) used as an environment for trying out new ideas, designs, products, or whatever.
Peer comment(s):

agree Harry Borsje : One would almost be tempted to call this a 'technology vehicle' in the same sense as testbed ;-) // or 'platform'

impressive gadget count

I think you have to work your way around this one. There is no real accurate English translation, so things like 'impressive gadget count' (slightly negative) and 'full of technology' spring to mind. The review in the link provides loads of examples
