If you add language pair to the list of questions, and maybe a question or two about qualifications, and given that there will be any answers to your questions, you could go for setting up your own translation agency instead...
Before asking these questions I would recommend that you spend a little time setting up your own proz.com profile first

Why would I give any kind of discount to someone I don't even know? I translate, I don't sell thingamajigs. I don't do promotions. Translation is not a luxury item people buy on impulse. And if I use a CAT tool, I use it so that I can work faster, more efficiently and produce a more accurate translation. Since when do I also have to pay so that I can provide this added value to the client? If anything, it is the client who should pay for it.

If I really wanted to fill out that form (I don't), I guess I would put $1,000,000 at the end of each line. My inputs are justifiable because I am unwilling to take a risk with people I don't know. Better to play safe, you know?

Uh... is this your question or is this question included in the list and the translator has to come up with an explanation after listing all the discounts upon discounts?
Well, at least it would be a quick and easy list to fill I think you can guess already which one word would go in it...

Looking for information is perfectly ok. But starting a translation business - which, as I understand it, is what you're about to do - requires more than asking a few prices. Specifically, you will need to think about what you want to offer, why prospective clients should use your services, and what you expect to earn.

So what are you going to tell that translation company? Are you going to tell them you're a translator?
Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying it's impossible to get started without formal training (in fact, that's how I got started myself). But there's much more to it than filling out a pricing form.

There are great many discussions of rates and their relation to, well, everything, in this forums, so if you are new in the business, you should look into them and decide which way you want to go at it. ▲ Collapse

I should have known beforehand... If you are not a professional, and if you have no experience, chances are you will achieve much lower rates (see adjusted rates). It's a long, a very long way to reach the peak of Mount Everest.
Unfortunately I am not a student any more, but I keep the learning ball rolling - every day!

Can you explain, Taija (nice name, by the way)?
I am not sure I got you right. My list is to be taken seriously, as seriously as you want, but the information provided will be different from translator to translator
I'll bet that Kevin's and Ralf's rates are much higher...
