Este trabalho está de acordo com a Resolução 196/96 do Conselho Nacional de Saúde, sendo aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa com Seres Humanos da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora - MG, sob o número 1928.272.2009.
Optou-se pela utilização da Escala de Silhuetas para Adultos (ESA) (versão feminina) criada e validada para uso na população brasileira por Kakeshita et al. (2009) e pela Escala de Silhuetas de Stunkard (ESS), adaptada e validada por Scagliusi et al. (2006) para o uso em mulheres adultas brasileiras. A Escala de Silhuetas para Adultos é formada por 15 figuras que variam de um corpo muito magro para muito gordo. A escala é apresentada a participante que deve escolher primeiramente a figura que melhor representa seu tamanho atual. Logo após a escala é reapresentada e a participante deve escolher a figura que melhor representa aquela que ela gostaria de ser. A satisfação corporal é calculada pela discrepância entre a escala ideal e a escala real. A análise do instrumento demonstrou correlação positiva e significativa para o IMC real e IMC da figura escolhida como atual por adultos (r=0,84; p

Concurrent validity is a parameter used in sociology, psychology, and other psychometric or behavioral sciences. Concurrent validity is demonstrated where a test correlates well with a measure that has previously been validated. The two measures may be for the same construct, or for different, but presumably related, constructs.
The two measures are taken at the same time. This is in contrast to predictive validity, where one measure occurs earlier and is meant to predict some later measure.

This is a comparison of two methodologies. One is the ESA, and the competing approach is the ESS.
