Source text - English The genetic defect of fibrillin-1 leads to an increase in the production of another protein, transforming growth factor beta, or TGF-β.
It is this protein's overproduction that is responsible for the features present in a person with Marfan syndrome.
Marfan syndrome affects the cardiovascular system by making the aorta (an artery that begins at the heart and is the largest in the human body) wider and more fragile.
This can lead to leakage of the aortic valve or tears (dissection) in the aortic wall, which may require surgery to repair.
Additionally, the heart's mitral valve may leak and an irregular heart rhythm may develop.

Salicylic acid (beta hydroxy acid, or BHA) is incredibly effective for controlling breakouts, which is why it's not uncommon to see it featured in face masks for acne-prone skin, but there can be issues with that.
First and foremost, salicylic acid is generally more beneficial in a leave-on formula rather than a rinse-off mask because that allows adequate time for the BHA to go work in pores to dissolve the built-up dead skin and other substances that can lead to breakouts.
Second, it's important to note that salicylic acid must be formulated within a particular pH range to function effectively as an exfoliant, but many masks don't meet that criterion.
While you may get some soothing benefits from using this ingredient in a mask, where BHA works best is in a well-formulated leave-on exfoliant.

Source text - English According to our results, the purveyor who wishes to predict the price of a two bedroom home, based on the monthly rental payments of a comparable home in the same city, should either use one of the single variate regressions with monthly rental payments as the explanatory variable (expressed in regressions (1) through (4) in table 5); or multivariate regression (8), bearing only the rental price of a condo and the price-to-rent ratio into consideration as their significant explanatory variables.
Generally speaking, multivariate regression (8) is the best estimator for our study primarily to alleviate omitted variable bias.
Conferring with our multivariate regression reveals that as the monthly rental price of a condo increases by $1.00 (holding all other variables constant), the listing price of a two-bedroom home will increase by $160.65.
Likewise, holding all other variables constant, as the price-to-rent ratio increases by one, the listing price of a two-bedroom home will increase by $16,479.19.
Two additional, broad conclusions can be drawn from our analysis.
First, if the rental price of a condo is going up, so is the listing price of a two bedroom home.
Therefore, a frugal home buyer should keep an eye on the rental price of condos; when rental prices decrease, that is when they should consider purchasing a home.
Second, as the price-to-rent ratio decreases, so will the price of a two bedroom home.

Source text - English Safe and effective oral therapies for mild-to-moderate Covid-19 are needed for symptomatic, unvaccinated outpatients at high risk for progression to severe disease.
Although monoclonal antibodies are currently available for this indication, they require administration and monitoring in a health care setting and may not work as well against emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants.
Design: An international, phase 2-3, double-blind, randomized, controlled trial assessed the efficacy and safety of the antiviral agent nirmatrelvir plus ritonavir (a pharmacokinetic enhancer) in preventing disease progression in unvaccinated adults with mild-to-moderate Covid-19 who were at high risk for progression to severe Covid-19.
Intervention: 2246 adults with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection were randomly assigned to receive nirmatrelvir (300 mg) plus ritonavir (100 mg) or matching placebo every 12 hours for 5 days, beginning within 5 days after the onset of Covid-19 symptoms.
The primary outcome of the final analysis involving 1379 patients was the incidence of Covid-19-related hospitalization or death from any cause by day 28 in patients receiving treatment within 3 days after symptom onset.

Although this condition is certainly the most visible of the eating disorders, particularly in its advanced stages, it is also the rarest.
Other eating disorders, such as bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder, are much more common than anorexia nervosa but tend not to be as visible.
Myth Buster 3 - There's more to eating disorders than eating behaviors
While a focus on food, weight, and eating may be expected in someone with an eating disorder, an increasing number of studies are showing that those with eating disorders often have other tendencies, especially perfectionism and extreme diligence and perhaps anxiety and depression.
Though many find that their eating disorder behaviors help with symptoms of anxiety and depression in the short term, overtime the malnutrition that can result from eating disorders increase anxiety and depression.
In short, an eating disorder often extends far beyond one's relationship to food, weight, and eating.
Reasons for Restrained Eating Behavior
While striving to be thin is probably the most typical, other reasons for restrained eating, both conscious and subconscious, come into play and can include boosting self confidence, avoiding painful feelings or situations, and seeking compassion or attention from others, sometimes in a way that prompts others to ask what's wrong.
Then, societal norms may mean that the restrained eater who loses weight gets lots of compliments from others, which further boosts the self-confidence of the restricted eater and encourages restrained- eating behaviors.
