Key updates include: • New file format support Users can now work with new file formats including Adobe FrameMaker 8.0, Adobe InDesign CS3 and QuarkXPress 7.x (via CopyFlow from Napsys*) • New QA Checker 2.0: QA Checker 2.0 provides new features, such as trademark character checks, as well as improved performance and extended number and date checks • New Microsoft Word Spelling Checker 2.0: Faster, more powerful and compatible with Microsoft Word 2007 (Unicode-based custom dictionaries) • Localized SDL Trados 2007 documentation: Key user guides and online help items are now available in French, German and Japanese • New conversion utility for complex markup: The new "snippet mark-up" plug in allows you to handle HTML content embedded in XML and other format combinations such as HTML embedded in Excel tables • Also includes SDL MultiTerm 2007 SP1: MultiTerm 2007 SP1 contains approximately 40 updates, including the ability to run a duplicate search in SDL MultiTerm Online • Performance Issues with Microsoft Word 2007: We have implemented a workaround to improve the problems encountered as a result of Microsoft’s performance issue. We have seen improvements from 10 to 20 times slower to 3 to 5 times slower. We are still working with Microsoft to further improve this issue. SDL Trados 2007 SP2 is now available as a free download for all existing users of SDL Trados 2007. If you do not yet own SDL Trados 2007, you will automatically receive SDL Trados 2007 SP2 when you purchase either a full license or an upgrade. For more information on SDL Trados 2007 SP2, refer to the SP2 release notes available as a separate download in your customer account at SDL. * QuarkXPress 7 files, including Unicode encoded files, are now fully supported in both SDL Trados and SDLX through the third-party application CopyFlow from Napsys. Although I was expecting a new version, SDL Trados 2008, a SP is much more better. I have three questions: 1. What about compatibility with previous versions, in particular with SDL Trados 2006? 2. Do you plan filters for AutoCAD? 3. Why do we have to buy a third party tool for QuarkExpress files? Is it really so difficult to create a filter for QuarkExpress? Thanks

Again it is demonstrated clearly, how much better SDLX is programmed compared to the Trados part. Installation and updating of Trados takes about 10 times longer.

This is good news! A free upgrade with lots of interesting features, quite a few of them useful for the translators. Good job, SDL! Keep them coming

Anyone to test it with word 2007 - the old-fashioned workflow? Thanks to SDL I'm almost entirely into TagEditor, but there are still some good memories (the translation ones) that match much better Wordwise...

Thanks to SDL I'm almost entirely into TagEditor, but there are still some good memories (the translation ones) that match much better Wordwise... First tests with Word 2007... are unexpectedly great! It's even faster than with word 2003 in my opinion. I am finally able to use Trados on my new notebook now. Thank you SDL! Synergy still doesn't work under Vista 64x though, a pity.

Hi, In spite of the glowing remarks, I'm a bit weary. The last time I upgraded a Trados product, it fatally affected its compatibility with MultiTerm. Anymore feedback from volunteers to test the new package? I still work with Word 2003 & Windows XP at home, but my Windows version at work is still 2003. Any cautionary remarks?

After having deinstalled ATM (clean delete - including manually removing registry entries and orphaned dll's, as described on Adobe homepage) this issue does not occur anymore. Build 835 (the new one after SP2) is stable, the communication with Multiterm works very well. In few words: GO FOR IT! ▲ Collapse

Jerzy Czopik Germany Local time: 01:37 Member (2003) Polish to German + ... Set the Tageditor window not to the full screen width | Jan 23, 2008 |
When you move the right edge of Tageditor window away from the right screen edge, you will see the view in Tageditor changing. Reduce the width so long, until you can view the text normally. Do you have any programes installed, which influence the screen view? Adobe Type Manger?
but the problem rarely occurs, so I'm not that bothered about it. Thanks for the tip. G
