No problems so far Jun 12, 2013

From the last two months, we have been using TP for some of our Translators International Payment and everything is good so far.

We only had a problems with two transactions but it was sorted in less than 24hours, as they have a great customer service to help you (Thank you Neil!).

Very satisfied, indeed!

What's in it for them? Jun 12, 2013

If the costs are so low, i.e. domestic transfer, no commission from the payer etc., what does TP make money on?

My impression... Jun 14, 2013

Łukasz Gos-Furmankiewicz wrote:

...is that banks and money pushers make far too much money for the service they provide, and we have become used to being charged hefty amounts for unmanned transactions we ourselves enter into their systems. Banks (and Paypal et al.) have had a field day for decades or centuries, and it is only about time that their transfer fees/commissions/exchange delta/rates be actually related to the effort they put in.

Where's the catch? There may not be any. If TranslatorPay charge fees commensurate with the service rendered, then no wonder that it looks cheap compared to incumbent players.

My best wishes to TranslatorPay if they live up to our expectations (no experience about it yet).

Philippe

How can we get more clients to use it? Jun 27, 2013

One of my clients was so kind to switch to TranslatorPay for a try out and I think was convinced.

Another one said they rather stick with the established services like paypal and moneybookers first.

TranslatorPay is offering a free webinar for clients. Maybe we should invite our clients?!?

Or could ProZ.com publish a link for corporate members?!

Glad to see some discussion about Translator Pay Jun 27, 2013

Hello everyone:

I am very glad to see some discussion about Translator Pay on ProZ! I am a beginner in the translation field, and am currently working with an agency. We haven't talked about payment yet, after reading this thread, I am going to introduce Translator Pay to them!

Translator Pay has a blog, and there is a interview with the CEO, Neil Hamlin. The interviewer asked several hard-core, important questions, such as how will TP make money with such a low charge

Translator Pay has a blog, and there is a interview with the CEO, Neil Hamlin. The interviewer asked several hard-core, important questions, such as how will TP make money with such a low charge or no charge. Any specific benefits to Eurozone users? Jun 28, 2013

I am just wondering if this makes any difference if I'm having my payments go into a EU account. I have a customer whose accounts payable is in the EU and I don't pay for receiving the fees (since I'm having the payment going into an EU account), so I am sort of failing to see the convenience in that.

Anybody else want to share their two cents?

For big amounts at least it really is too good to be true Jul 18, 2013

My bank gives me a much better rate than TranslatorPay, I think I get about EUR 30 more for every EUR 1000 paid.

For small amounts however it probably works out cheaper than the bank, and certainly cheaper than PayPal.

Best Regards,

Arjan

EU and EFTA (and EURO zone) don't need it, thanks to SEPA Aug 28, 2013

Within the EU, Eurozone (not the same) and EFTA the SEPA system of transferring funds via giro bank transfer works best for all involved, even across currencies (EUR > CHF, GBP > CHF etc.).
Especially if it is handled through electronic banking (in Switzerland, as in my case, where there are absolutely no costs or deductions). But all payments undergo a money laundering compliance test. Which for us honest guys is not a problem.

Waiting now for 18 days... Aug 30, 2013

I have been "paid" by agency using their services - an almost 9k € payment right now seems to have been lost somewhere - they provided me with payment transfer confirmation PDF file which says it has been sent on 12.08... 18 days later still nothing in my bank account...

Notified both the agency and translatorpay.com and waiting for any answer... damn not happy about it at all...

Good support though Aug 31, 2013

I was also informed that this is caused by the transfer being sent in Euro and my bank account being in PLN - first time this ever proved to be a problem, but apparently this is due to the fact that they use "a form of low cost settlement for EUR/EUR transfers which is no issue if you have a EUR receiving account, but which can cause problems if the account is not EUR"

There is an option to invoice in EUR and be paid in PLN, however I had not been informed about such an option earlier by the agency.
