I lived in Mexico City for 2 years, but my husband hated it, so we moved back to the US. That was a long time ago, and he is no longer living. In 1994 (18 years ago), I moved from Washington, DC, where I wasn't too happy even though I spent most of my life there, to California, which some people consider a separate country. I love it here and would never move again.

I agree with B D Finch, I should have not specified the time limit in my questions. My only intention was to be fair to younger translators. For obvious reason, older translators have been able to experience more changes in their longer lifetimes. See more I agree with B D Finch, I should have not specified the time limit in my questions. My only intention was to be fair to younger translators. For obvious reason, older translators have been able to experience more changes in their longer lifetimes. The inspiration for this poll came from the piece I have been working on for the past few weeks. The article focuses on moving my translation business from England to Indonesia, two countries so different from each other. It will be published in the May-June issue of the ITI Bulletin. Those who are not members of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting and would like to read my article (which is packed with tips for translators who, like myself, are considering/planning to move their businesses abroad), please join my FB page at Slobodzian Language Solutions where the copy of the article will be available in mid-May. Thank you so much for such a thought-provoking discussion.

I moved to the States from Italy 4 years ago. Before that I moved from Denmark, where I was born, to Italy. I have no intention of changing country again, unless it would be back to DK. L.

I have lived in Mexico practically all my life, except for a year during my childhood in the US, from where my earliest memories are. I love my country, I am very happy here, my whole life is here, so I have no reason to leave my country.
