Before anything can be fed to anything, it must be taken from its previous location. Here "wybierający" is a synonym for: zabierający, usuwający. IMO nothing in common with selecting/selection. This auger removes something (like plastic foil waste after washing) from the centrifuge (? - not sure due to the small context).

Selection I think it might be for selecting different sizes/types of waste plastic, but again the lack of context doesn't help
