electricity fairy

Simply a fanciful image to convey that the moulin d'Opio is no longer powered by water, but, rather, by electricity (as if by magic):

The electricity fairy came along and powered the millstones and presses...

the magic of electricity

This is a much more common expression in French than any literal translation would be in EN, and has a delightfully quaint, rather 1920's feel
I would hesitate to use the obvious, literal term, for fear of making it sound 'cute' or quirky in EN, when the expression is fairly ordinary in FR.

agree philgoddard : Good point - it is a common expression in French, and your translation fits the bill much better. Also, kudos for submitting a new answer when the existing one has nine agrees. It's eight now - I've withdrawn mine :-)

Thanks, Phil! Well, no credit for that; there were 10, but I'm afraid I withdrew mine too, because on reflection, and remembering how I've hear this used... In actualy fact, someone said almost exactly the same thing about my own watermill!
agree Yolanda Broad : Nice solution.
