French term
à l’abri des effets de mode et de séduction
French to English
Marketing
Education / Pedagogy
From a visual communications school brochure:
Savoir discerner les valeurs essentielles à préserver dans l’enseignement dispensé, à l’abri des effets de mode et de séduction, tel est le propre d’une formation de qualité.
It's really the seduction part that's tripping me up. Trying to think of a way to use "appeal", but without much success.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I don't know why I'm insisting on this alliteration :-)

Terry's suggestion below about peer pressure has got me thinking a bit...what about "outside pressure" for seduction?

trendy and beguiling
I realize those are the wrong parts of speech, but I was wondering if you could somehow turn it round to incorporate them as adjectives in this way?
Just a thought!

peer pressure
Not really a direct translation but I'm pretty sure that's what they are talking about here.

far from the influence of modern trends and temptations
The 'far from' bit might be a bit too far from the original but maybe it wiill give some inspiration!

impact of general trends and enticement
I don't see how appeal can be used here.

without giving in to trends or the desire to please
Tricky one!
Without feeling obliged to follow trends or win over the audience/your pupils
... win your audience's/pupils' approval.

Note from asker:
Ah, I think this is getting close to what my mind was trying to get around with appeal. Thanks Sandra |

outcome of protection of approach and attraction
May be it helps to convey the meaning. The attraction may be appealing or fascinating or pleasing. This may give you how you could use appeal.

ignoring transcient trends or superficial attractions
I don't think anyone's quite got it yet. Here's my two cents worth.

independent of trends and (seductive/other) inducements
just an idea ... maybe turning it into an adjective would work ... depends on rest of context, I think

while it's maybe not what you're looking for, perhaps 'trends and other seductive influences/factors' could work

sorry, I see I'm looking at it the wrong way round ... independent of trends or attempts to win over/at seduction
