Another question about my legal text which contains medical terms. Here is the whole sentence :

he had to have a cortical screw put in his humerous bone and attached by pegs and screws.

I translated the sentence but it does not sound quite good :
on lui a posé une vis corticale dans son humérus, maintenue par des chevilles et vis.

Can you please help me. Thanks in advance.

J'attire votre attention sur l'emploi de "tige" qui désigne généralement le pivot d'une prothèse implantée et là, on s'éloigne de la réparation d'une fracture. Une ostéoplastie simple utilise éventuellement : plaques, clous, vis ou broches...

In fact the patient/client has probably had a plate put in, and it's the plate that is attached with what the lawyer calls pegs and screws. But that's not your problem :-)

I doubt very much that we are talking about "chevilles" here - which one puts in the wall but not in bones in my experience - these are probably nails or rods - try "tiges"

yes thank you for your answer. You are right, the original text does not sounds good neither because it is the lawyer, speaking on behalf of his client, who states the facts in a letter.

Une vis corticale maintenue par des vis...chirurgicalement, ça n'a pas de sens ! ma suggestion vise uniquement à éviter ce lapsus. Ou encore, mettre "maintenue" au masculin, pour l'appliquer plutôt à "humérus"...
